Business Development Director

Summary of Job Description:

As the primary facilitator for all business development activities, the Business Development Director has the responsibility for all correspondence, contact, collateral, and communication between Menlo Worldwide and the customer. The following activities represent the primary responsibilities of the Business Development Director:

  • Proactively identify new customers with projects that fit our Menlo business model (proactive selling).
  • Qualify customers based on company guidelines.
  • Identify the project "scope of services."
  • Manage the project progression from identification to closure.
  • Coordinate correspondence between Menlo resources and the customer.
  • Assist Senior Management in negotiating and signing customer contracts for Menlo services.
  • "Quarterback" or manage the processing of, and responses to, any Request for Proposal or Information from customers by Menlo Worldwide and subsequent follow-up required to sell the project.
  • Assist in developing new market opportunities for Menlo Worldwide.
  • Participate in selling additional business to existing customers.
  • Limited participation in startups and transition of project management to a permanent management team.
Requirements:
  • BS Logistics, Marketing or applicable experience
  • 10-15 years experience in supply chain management
  • 5 years Business Development experience in a Third Party Logistics environment               
  • Transportation/warehousing knowledge
  • Inventory and process control
  • Exposure to strategic partnerships/alliances with logistics providers
  • Travel is a major component of this position
  • Strong communication and presentation skills are essential
  • Understanding of clients success and wins
  • International experience/sector experience
  • Presentation skills are critical – consultant sales approach
  • Organizational skills, ability to lead
  • Must understand the industry and challenges in the sector you are working in
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with a certain level of analytical skill

Must be able to work autonomously
