Logistics Manager II

Position Summary:

This position is on site at our customer corporate offices and is responsible for overseeing daily transportation operations, carrier relations, and delivery performance. Strong account management and customer relations skills are required. 

The candidate must have operational experience with multiple modes of transportation (LTL, TL, rail, parcel), as well as basic Access, Excel and analytical skills. Candidate will address service issues with domestic transportation, provide customer service support including tracing, billing research, service metrics, problem solving and rate quotes. Candidate must have ability to develop strong carrier relationships regarding process, performance and operational issues. Position requires daily/weekly/monthly activity reports for the customer that includes service metrics, freight costs and DOT performance. Position requires strong management and leadership skills. 

Position requires monitoring and reconciling freight payment problems and overseeing approval process of freight bills. An ideal candidate would also possess customer service and distribution skills. This person may manage large projects and propose cost savings initiatives
Skills: The successful candidate will have a degree in logistics or related field including a minimum of 5 years experience in transportation or logistics.  Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills are essential. Work requires continual attention to detail in coordinating shipments and compiling metrics. Candidates must also be proficient in the other Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Project management skills and experience.
  • Minimum - Undergraduate Degree; trained in Quality practices and Process and Project Management
  • Five to Ten years of Supply Chain operations (domestic and/or international) working knowledge of the following functional areas – transportation, distribution, manufacturing, inventory planning, network analysis, materials management.
