Logistics Safety Supervisor I

Job Description:

The Logistics Supervisor will be primarily responsible for the integrity and application of the Menlo/Dow safety procedures within the warehouse and production operations. In addition, the position will provide support to other logistics supervisors on site. Position will be responsible for communication to the customer concerning any safety incidents and their root causes; also responsible for all training of safety policies. The position will report to the Operations Manager.

The LSI will be a contact point for safety problem resolution. Additional responsibilities include, OSHA record keeping at the facility, new hire safety orientation, safety process development in conjunction with our customer and continuous improvement. Responsible for performing floor safety walks, leading a safety team and daily floor safety observations. This person will communicate with several internal departments, as well as the customer and external suppliers. This person will also be responsible for achieving pre-determined goals in multiple safety oriented areas.

Support of colleague LS1’s may include supervising and coordinating the daily execution of production activities, overseeing shipping and inventory management processes, determining work procedures, preparing work schedules, and expediting workflow by properly utilizing employees. Supervisor will assign duties and examine work for accuracy, neatness, and conformance to established Menlo and customer policies and procedures. Supervisor must have strong problem solving, communication, computer, and organizational skills. The supervisor will be responsible for end-of-shift and end-of-day process completion for hand-off to next shift or closing.

Experience: This position requires 2-4 years supervisory/safety experience (education may substitute for years of experience) providing overall direction, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety solutions in all phases of warehousing and production.
Education: Associates degree preferred. Experience may substitute for education; High School Diploma or GED required.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear.
