Position:

Logistics Supervisor I

Job Summary: This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily execution of distribution activities at a 120,000 sq ft automotive service parts warehouse in Baltimore, MD . Responsibilities include overseeing shipping, receiving, and inventory management processes, determining work procedures, preparing work schedules, and expediting workflow by properly utilizing employees. Supervisor will assign duties and examine work for accuracy, neatness, and conformance to established Menlo and customer policies and procedures. Supervisor must have strong problem solving, communication, computer, and organizational skills. A background in transportation is necessary, as the supervisor will have to help coordinate inbound and outbound activity with a large number of transportation providers. The supervisor will be responsible for end-of-shift and end-of-day process completion for hand-off to next shift or closing.
Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work with Logistics Manager to define requirements for operations and ensure that the implementation of new strategies and initiatives to effectively meet or exceed these requirements as well as customer expectations.
  • Oversee daily execution of shipping, receiving, and inventory management processes
  • Use lean tools to drive productivity improvements (takt time, cell balancing, visual controls, pull systems, one piece flow, etc.)
  • Ensure safe work environment for all employees
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement projects as required
  • Interact and communicate with customer on daily basis
  • Provide daily, weekly and monthly metrics to management
  • Responsible for exceeding customer metrics (cost, quality, and responsiveness)
  • Coach Lean Warehousing System on the floor
  • Provide accurate, responsive customer service to logistics team.

Position-specific Responsibilities

  • Maintain data integrity and accuracy in customer system. Troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions.  
  • Generate proactive solutions and continuous improvement suggestions to the customer to drive increased operational efficiency and to the entire supply chain.
  • Implement Lean manufacturing and distribution techniques and foster a culture of continuous improvement on the floor
  • Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, and training/safety records as required.
  • Must be certified and able to operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet riders, etc.). The supervisor will be required to perform material handler activities as volume warrants.
Qualifications:

Experience

This position requires 3-5 years managerial / supervisory experience providing overall direction, implementation, and continuous improvement of logistics solutions in all phases of warehousing and distribution.

Education

Degree in Logistics or related field preferred experience may substitute for education.
