Con-way Truckload Employee Tornado Relief Fund

Con-way Truckload

As many of you know, the City of Joplin was struck by a devastating tornado May 22 that cut a six mile long, one-half mile wide swath across the city, essentially dividing it in half killing 145 people with the death toll most likely to increase. In addition, many others have lost their homes.

Con-way Truckload employees sustained relatively few injuries but over 60 have lost their homes completely or suffered major structural damage rendering them uninhabitable. Con-way Truckload's Joplin campus sustained minor damage to the main building and maintenance facilities, which are already repaired. While our business was uninterrupted and seamless to our customers, our employees' lives have been dramatically impacted by the tornado.

We have received an outpouring of calls and emails from many of our customers expressing their concerns, asking what they can do to help, and where and how to make donations. Thanks to everyone for their kind words and generosity.

We have established the Con-way Truckload Employee Tornado Relief Fund to assist Con-way Truckload employees who have been displaced by this horrific tornado. Monies received will be distributed based upon the needs of our impacted employees. Contributions of money can be sent:

Con-way Truckload Employee Tornado Relief Fund
PO Box 2547
Joplin, MO 64803

At this time, we are no longer able to accept non-monetary donations as the amount of incoming supplies has exceeded our ability to store them.

Any donations of money or goods not needed by Con-way Truckload employees will be forwarded to the local agencies to be dispersed within the Joplin community. Thank you again for your prayers and support during this difficult time for our Joplin home.

Herb Schmidt,
President, Con-way Truckload
