Two Million Mile Safe Drivers

2010

George LaCour
DSR, LHO

Con-way Freight DSR George LaCour started out as a heavy equipment operator. He said he liked the work well enough, but was looking for a long-term career that could offer more stability. After doing some research, he decided a job as a professional driver would be the right move, and the lifestyle it offered appealed to him.

“I like that I’m not stuck in the same place all the time,” said George. “I also enjoy meeting the customers, making sure they’re satisfied and helping to grow the business. I approach my job in a very professional manner, and I work hard to uphold a positive image for Con-way Freight, and also truck drivers in general.”

George says that putting safety first is his top priority when out on the road. He says it would help improve driving conditions for everybody if motorists would just slow down, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles and, more importantly, not lose their tempers.

“There is no reason to lose your cool when you’re out on the road,” said George. “I try to always drive with a positive and friendly attitude and be conscious of putting safety first at all times. I think if you have a good attitude, then you’re probably going to have a good day.”

“I also take pride in what I do,” added George. “I enjoyed reaching one million miles, and I’m excited about now hitting two million miles. It feels pretty good.”

A resident of Houston, George is based out of Con-way Freight’s Houston service center. He has three daughters: Mia, 32; Meka, 29; and Georgiana, 7; and three grandchildren: Curtis, 14; Kirtrick, 12; and Mund, 8. George enjoys barbecuing and deep sea fishing in his free time.
