After leaving the service, John Hager hit the pavement looking for a job. Ironically, the first job he found would be hitting the pavement every day, making a difference by moving freight across the country.
“Freedom,” John describes when asked about the most important aspect of being a driver sales representative for Con-way Freight. The open road, being his own boss; all of it adds up to a fulfilling career for John Hager.
His number one piece of advice for anyone on the road is to simply pay attention. The comment may seem small, but Hager recognizes the impact could mean the difference between a safe ride home and an accident that nobody wants.
Hager attributes his dedication to awareness on the road as a key factor in reaching two million accident-free miles. He’s thrilled to have reached this milestone and feels the award stands for recognition from his peers that his efforts have not gone unnoticed.
Hager has worked for Con-way Freight since 1990 and has been a professional truck driver for 37 years. He typically drives approximately 480 miles per shift, and his route takes him from Monticello to Robertsdale, Al. Hager has one child, Samantha, 21, and enjoys fishing in his free time.
