Menlo Worldwide Logistics Appoints New Leader in Europe

AMSTERDAM - August 27, 2009

Menlo Worldwide Logistics (Menlo), the global logistics subsidiary of Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW), announced the appointment of Anthony Gunn to the position of managing director, Europe. In doing so, Menlo, a global logistics provider and supply chain management specialist, reaffirms its commitment to the provision of best-in-class, dedicated and multi-user warehouse services, transportation management and value added services to its customers in Europe and around the world.

Based at Menlo’s European headquarters in Amsterdam, Gunn — a long-servicing Menlo executive — was promoted from his previous position of director, European Operations. In making the announcement, Todd Johnson, Menlo’s vice president of international operations  said, “I am pleased that we are able to call upon the experience and skills of Tony to head our operation in Europe and ensure a smooth transition for our customers in what is a challenging time for so many in light of the global economic situation.”

Johnson added, “He has the operational background in Menlo’s mix of pre- and post-manufacturing supply chain activities, as well as a deep working knowledge of the company’s pan-European and Intercontinental management services.”

Gunn brings a wealth of logistics experience. This results from nearly a decade of senior management positions within Menlo’s European organization in addition to over 20 years in the telecommunications and semiconductor sectors, where he had responsibility for purchasing, inventory management, material supply and product distribution.

Commenting on his appointment, Gunn committed to continuing Menlo’s customer-centric approach. “Menlo has established its success through engineering tailored logistics process for our customers. My intention is to maintain and strengthen this ability in Europe to benefit these customers, based both here and abroad, and the supply chain providers that we manage. I plan to continue Menlo’s growth throughout Europe, including development from our established operations in Hungary and the Czech Republic.”

Over the last two years in his previous position, Gunn has been responsible for a number of Menlo’s high profile customer operations across various industry sectors. He has led in the development of various new logistics solutions for these accounts and was instrumental in establishing Menlo’s recent entry into the Czech market.

In his new function, he will be responsible for Menlo’s strategic plan in Europe and will enhance his management team in accordance with this plan. He is also keen to maintain Menlo’s high level of commitment to Lean logistics practices throughout the operation. “As a leader in Lean logistics, Menlo has made significant improvements to our processes. We have energized and empowered our employees and delivered improved services and reduced costs for our multinational customers. We will continue to adopt Lean logistics practices still further in managing our customers’ global supply chains,” concluded Gunn.
