ANN ARBOR, MI - May 12, 2006
Friday May 12, 2006 went into the record books as a milestone day for the Con-way organization as President and CEO Doug Stotlar launched the start of trading at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) with the traditional ringing of the opening bell.
The ceremony commemorated the recent name change of the company to Con-way as well as the company’s new ticker symbol CNW, which signifies Con-way’s stock as traded on the NYSE.
The bell ringing was part of a promotional campaign designed to bring recognition to the Con-way organization and its partnership with the NYSE. Con-way and its predecessor entities have been a publicly traded company on the Exchange for over 40 years.
On public display in front of the NYSE for the day was a new Con-way set of doubles outfitted with the new logo and colors of Con-way Freight. Also there to lend a hand was the Wyler Racing team and the No. 60 Con-way Toyota Tundra race truck, which was on display with the tractor-trailer unit. The event drew significant media interest as Con-way Freight President Dave McClimon was interviewed by CNBC with the Con-way truck in the background, while Doug Stotlar spent time with Bloomberg Business News and the Dow Jones Newswire.
Joining Mr. Stotlar on the podium at the Exchange for the bell-ringing ceremony (from left to right): Lew Dekker, Con-way Freight-Central region manager; John Labrie, president, Con-way Transportation; Bob Bianco, president, Menlo Worldwide; Kevin Schick, VP and CFO; James Mayes, personnel supervisor for the Brooklyn freight service center (and driver of the truck on display in front of the NYSE); Catherine Kenny, executive VP and co-chief operating officer of the NYSE; Doug Stotlar, president and CEO; Ned Moritz, VP, Marketing; Mr. Stotlar’s daughter, Jackie; Dave McClimon, president, Con-way Freight; Jennifer Pileggi, SVP and general counsel; Gary Frantz, director, corporate communications; and Pat Fossenier, VP investor relations.
A Con-way flag flew inside the NYSE for the entire day commemorating the company and its day at the Exchange.
