Chuck Siffer Promoted To Director Of Carrier Relations For Con-way Freight

ANN ARBOR, MI - May. 24, 2006 - Con-way Freight announced today that Chuck Siffer has been promoted to director of carrier relations.

Siffer is a veteran manager with nearly 20 years of experience across a wide range of less-than-truckload (LTL) freight sales, service and operations activities. He will be based at the company’s general office in Ann Arbor.

He was previously manager of carrier relations, and will continue to oversee and manage the company’s purchased truckload transportation activities, as well as Con-way’s Deferred Service offering. Among his responsibilities will be maintaining relations with strategic intermodal and over-the-road truckload service providers, contract administration, capacity procurement, long-term strategic planning, and developing programs to reduce line-haul costs, improve efficiency and increase capacity utilization.  He reports to Rick Trott, vice president of operations for Con-way Freight.

“Chuck has consistently demonstrated superior management skill and insight directing our purchased transportation activities,” said Trott.  “This promotion recognizes the importance of these partner operations to our service performance goals, and the contributions Chuck has made in successfully managing them.”

Siffer will continue to work closely with Con-way Freight’s West, Central and South line-haul directors to improve transcontinental operations and maximize carrier performance.

Siffer began his career with Con-way Freight in 1987 as a customer service representative for Con-way Freight-Central, later joining the line-haul department and progressing through various positions.  In 1998 he was named manager of line-haul for Con-way Freight-Western (formerly known as Con-Way Western Express), earning promotion to director two years later.  He returned to Con-way Freight at the corporate office in Ann Arbor in 2005 to take the newly-created position of manager of carrier relations.
