The National Confectioners Association announced this week that the extra candy and snack products from the SWEETS & SNACKS EXPO TM at McCormick Place will be donated to Operation Interdependence, a nationwide non-profit organization that allows community members to support troops serving on the frontlines, as well as military families and veterans.
“The confectionery industry has a long history of supporting the nation’s military personnel,” said NCA President Larry Graham. “It’s important to NCA and our members and exhibitors to support our troops and their families as they dedicate their lives to protecting this country.”
More than 2 million troops around the world have received care packages through Operation Interdependence. Since 2001, Operation Interdependence has distributed more than 503 tons of goods to military families and veterans organizations. NCA is pleased to offer nearly 20,000 lbs of confectionery and snacks to support this worthwhile mission.
“NCA is honored to be able to take part in providing comfort and support to military personnel and their families wherever they may be stationed around the world,” said Graham.
Graham also added that NCA is grateful to Con-way Freight, a less-than-truckload carrier, which donated a truck and driver to transport the products. Con-way Freight is the industry’s leading less-than-truckload freight transportation company, providing guaranteed, day-definite regional and transcontinental service to customers throughout North America.
