Business Development Intern

Con-way Truckload Services is the truckload brokerage company of Con-way, Inc. providing transportation solutions to over 4,000 customers each year.  As a transportation broker, Con-way Truckload Services contracts with motor carriers and railroads across the United States, Canada and Mexico to meet the needs of its shippers.

Con-way Truckload Services' non-asset based business model fosters a dynamic and creative business environment best suited for highly motivated and competitive individuals. We are currently looking for individuals who fit that description for our paid summer internship program in Ann Arbor, MI. 

As a Business Development Intern, you will gain broad exposure to the transportation industry. The internship begins with an extensive training program including industry training, sales foundation and concepts, and systems training. The learning process is accomplished though formal classroom training, site visits, as well as on-going, hands-on training with a mentor.

After training, the primary responsibility will be to develop new business through lead prospecting, qualifying and development. This role includes working closely with and supporting the Customer Solutions Teams that are responsible for the entire customer life cycle. As part of this internship, you will gain exposure to multiple departments and learn key business objectives.

Skills and Experience Required

• Minimum one year college experience
• Ability to demonstrate skills necessary to perform in a sales capacity
• Self-directed and good problem solving skills
• Excellent time management skills

• Basic computer and typing skills
• Ability to work in an environment that requires service to the customer as a priority
