The purpose of this document is to establish policies and guidelines by which non-Con-way companies (third parties) may use or reuse elements of the Con-way Web site for their own business use. This includes placing links to the site, accessing the sites pages and/or applications by automated processes (“bots”) and subsequently republishing information gathered, accessing Con-way data and Con-way customer information, and the use of Con-way logos and images.
Remember, Con-way’s logos, trademarks and company names are copywritten (© 2007 Con-way. All rights reserved.) and may not be used without prior permission.
Within the technology of the Internet, third parties have the capacity to place links to the Con-way home page anywhere on their Web sites.
Con-way asks that all links be made to the home page only. We strongly discourage linking to specific pages within the site. Our site is a “living” set of pages and applications, and specific page addresses (URLs) may change without notice.
Customers may wish to use automatic processes to gather information from the Con-way site for internal reporting or publishing on their own Web sites. We encourage this innovative and enterprising use of our site, however, the following guidelines are to be followed when republishing information from the Con-way site.
Con-way must be contacted via e-mail prior to automated retrieval and reposting of data from a Con-way site. The Con-way logos (see below) must be prominently exhibited wherever information gathered from a Con-way site is displayed. Finally, we insist that the security and confidentiality of our customers’ data be maintained.
Access to the Web site secure tools is currently secured via secure sockets layer (SSL) encryption protocols and a user ID (password challenge and response). Any automated processes gathering information from the site will be required to use a registered account for access. Third parties accessing customer data are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any and all information retrieved. Under no circumstances will a third party pass shipment information to anyone other than the shipper, consignee or authorized agents thereof.
Third-party users may want to establish automated retrieval of data from the site utilizing “screen-scraping” of HTML pages. This data retrieval technique can be used as long as the conditions outlined above are followed. This is not an official method of data retrieval, however, and is offered on a “use-at-your-own-risk” basis. The Con-way Web team emphasizes that this practice has limitations: URLs and HTML layout of pages on the site may change without notice. We welcome all input. E-mail us.
If you have questions about the use of Con-way company logos, contact Con-way prior to using logos, artwork or any other symbols copyrighted or trademarked by Con-way.
