Field Management Trainee

The objective of Con-way Freight’s Management Trainee Program is to recruit and develop highly qualified individuals so that they are prepared to take on future positions of increasing responsibility within the organization. As a Field Management Trainee at Con-way Freight, you will begin your career by participating in 12 weeks of paid training. You will be assigned to a variety of different shifts to learn Con-way’s operational processes. As a Field Management Trainee, you will report to the local service center manager on a daily basis and correspond weekly with your assigned Region Manager. On any given shift, you will take instructions from an assigned trainer / Freight Operations Supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  • Take initiative to learn Con-way’s operation through reading material, observation and hands-on experience
  • Work a variety of different shifts during training
  • Work well with other Con-way employees
  • Communicate properly with your trainers, facilitator and Region Manager regarding your training assignments.
  • Complete assignments on-time.
  • Meet weekly goals and objectives

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree (equivalent military or other experience may substitute)
  • Transportation/Distribution/Logistics degree programs preferred
  • Willing to relocate for future opportunities
  • Aptitude for front line supervisory positions and operations management
  • Takes responsibility for decisions and actions
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead and motivate others
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to organize and present information
  • Time management skills
  • General keyboard skills
  • Strong work ethic/stable work history
  • Industry experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with Microsoft products/general knowledge of internet
